Having long nails doesn’t mean you can’t wear contact lenses comfortably! With a few small technique adjustments, you can safely put in and remove your lenses without touching your eyes with your nails.

✨ Before You Start

Always wash and dry your hands thoroughly.
Make sure your lens case and solution are clean.
Try to use the pads of your fingers, not the tips or nails.
Keep your nails angled away from your eye at all times.

Putting In Contact Lenses

1. Use the Finger Pad Method

Place the lens on the soft pad of your index finger (not the fingertip). This gives you better control and keeps nails away from your eye.

2. Hold Your Eyelids Securely

Use one hand to gently hold your upper eyelid, and the other hand to hold your lower eyelid. This prevents blinking while you place the lens.

3. Place the Lens Gently

Look straight ahead or slightly upward and softly place the lens on your eye using the pad of your finger. Blink slowly to center the lens.

💡 Tip: If your nails are very long, try placing the lens slightly from the side angle instead of directly from the front.

Removing Contact Lenses

1️⃣ The Side-Finger Pinch Method

This is one of the most popular techniques.

Look slightly upward.
Use the pads of your index fingers (not the tips).
Gently push the lens from opposite sides and pinch it out softly.
Keep nails angled away from your eye.

2️⃣ The Rolling / Slide Method

Great if you want to avoid pinching.

Look upward.
Use the pad of your index finger to gently slide the lens down toward your lower eyelid.
Once it moves down, the lens will fold slightly and come out easily.

3️⃣ The Knuckle Method

Helpful for very long nails.

Use the knuckle of your index finger instead of the fingertip.
Gently push the lens downward until it slides out.
